Texas Mission Development was organized by Rocky Springs MBC in 1972. The first quarterly funds were presented to the Athens Mission in July. This initial check totaled $740.57. These quarterly funds and suppporting members have continued to increase for the past 36 years.
The Texas Mission Development program now enjoys a membership of 165 members. A record quarter reached more than $30,000 in August, 2005. The funds given since its beginning in 1972 has reached one and one-half million. These funds were given to 136 projects.
Nancy Gaston has been Secretary/Treasurer since July 1986 and Jim Slocumb has been Director since May 1991. These funds are presented quarterly and personally by the Director and Treasurer to the sponsoring church or mission.
The $30,000 goal was reached 2nd quarter of 2005. The new goal is $35,000. The Texas Mission Development has proven to be a tremendous blessing to Texas missions and churches. Rocky Springs MBC is proud to be the sponsor of the great mission program.
