The Texas Mission Development (TMD) was organized after much prayer and council for the purpose of giving financial assistance to missions and struggling churches. It was patterned after a similar program operating among Oklahoma Missionary Baptist.
In the past, missionaries have at times been unable to obtain suitable property and have been forced to settle in undesirable locations. Today, the churches established under these circumstances are suffering the consequences.
The central purpose of TMD is to give Missionary Baptists in Texas the opportunity to do greater mission work in the future by providing funds:
- To buy land for church sites
- To erect new church buildings
- To buy existing church buildings
- To ease the financial load of struggling churches.
The TMD is not intended to take funds away from other mission projects, but is a means to provide greater mission work in Texas churches.
